Common Freezer Repair Issues We Handle

Not reaching or holding temperature
When a freezer can’t hold its set temperature, the cause is usually a failed evaporator fan, a refrigerant issue, clogged condenser coils, or a defrost problem that’s blocking airflow with accumulated frost. We test the full cooling system in sequence and pinpoint the specific failure.
Heavy frost or ice building up repeatedly
Frost that keeps coming back is a defrost system problem. The heater, defrost thermostat, or timer board isn’t running the defrost cycle, so ice builds unchecked. We test each component in the defrost circuit and restore automatic operation.
Running non-stop without cycling off
A freezer that never stops means the cooling system is working harder than it should — typically a sealed system issue, dirty condenser coils, or a thermostat that won’t cut off the compressor. Constant running also drives up your electric bill. We find the cause and resolve it.
Water pooling under or inside the unit
Pooling water is almost always a blocked defrost drain. The channel that carries melted frost out of the freezer has clogged, so water backs up and overflows. We clear the drain path and verify the defrost cycle is functioning correctly.
Buzzing, rattling, or clicking noises
A buzzing or humming freezer can point to a failing evaporator fan or a compressor working harder than it should. Rattling often traces to a loose drain pan or a fan blade touching frost. Clicking on startup is usually a bad start relay. We locate the source and repair it.
Door gasket failing to hold a seal
A gasket that doesn’t seal lets warm, humid air in. That moisture freezes on the evaporator coil and causes performance problems beyond wasted cold air. We replace door gaskets for all major chest and upright freezer brands — usually completed in the same visit.
